JESUS CHRIST The Perfect Mediator Between God and Humanity

Introduction:

Good morning/afternoon/evening, beloved brothers and sisters in Christ. Today, as we gather in worship, let us focus our hearts and minds on the marvelous truth that Jesus Christ is the only mediator between God and humanity. In a world filled with confusion and conflicting paths, it is crucial for us to anchor ourselves in the unchanging Word of God. Let us delve into Scripture together to understand the significance of Jesus as our mediator and the profound impact it has on our lives.

The Broken Relationship:

  1. In the beginning, God created humanity in His image, establishing a harmonious relationship with them (Genesis 1:27). However, sin entered the world through disobedience, rupturing that relationship. Sin separates us from the holiness of God, and without a mediator, we are helpless to bridge that gap (Romans 3:23).

  1. Jesus: The Perfect Mediator: But thanks be to God, He did not leave us in despair.

  2. In His infinite love and mercy, He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to reconcile us to Himself. Jesus, fully God and fully human, became the bridge between humanity and God. Through His sacrificial death on the cross, He bore the punishment for our sins, offering us forgiveness and restoration (1 Timothy 2:5-6).

The Mediator's Role:
  1. Jesus serves as our mediator in two significant ways. Firstly, He represents us before God the Father. He stands in the gap, interceding on our behalf and presenting us as blameless through His righteousness (Hebrews 7:25). Secondly, He reveals God to us, showing us the Father's love, grace, and truth (John 14:9). Jesus enables us to know and experience the depth of God's love for us.

  2. Exclusive Access through Jesus: In a world that promotes the idea of multiple paths to God, Scripture affirms that Jesus is the exclusive way to the Father. Jesus Himself proclaimed, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). Salvation is found only in Jesus Christ, and there is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12).

Our Response:
Understanding Jesus' role as the only mediator between God and humanity demands a response from us. Firstly, we must humbly acknowledge our need for a Savior and place our faith in Jesus alone for salvation (Ephesians 2:8-9). Secondly, we should strive to grow in our relationship with Him through prayer, studying His Word, and following His teachings (John 15:4-5). Lastly, we are called to share the good news of Jesus with others, so they too can experience the transformative power of His mediation (Matthew 28:19-20).

Conclusion:
As we conclude our time of worship, let us marvel at the incredible gift of Jesus Christ, our only mediator. Through Him, we are reconciled to God, restored to a right relationship with Him, and granted eternal life. May we continually deepen our understanding of Jesus' mediation and live in response to His immeasurable love and sacrifice. Let us go forth, proclaiming Jesus Christ as the only mediator between God and humanity, inviting others to experience the joy and peace found in Him. In Jesus' precious name, amen.
